Schwarzenegger and new Environmental Expo at the AUSTRIAN WORLD SUMMIT 2024

For the first time, a dedicated environmental expo with innovative solutions will accompany the climate conference on June 20th

On June 20, 2024, Arnold Schwarzenegger will convene his annual climate conference, the AUSTRIAN WORLD SUMMIT (AWS), gathering high-ranking national and international guests at the Vienna Hofburg for the eighth consecutive year. This year’s theme, “Be Useful: Tools for a Healthy Planet,” inspired by Schwarzenegger’s latest book title, underscores the importance of actionable measures for climate and environmental protection.

Explore Innovations: The AUSTRIAN WORLD SUMMIT Solutions Expo 2024

In line with the motto, there will be an exciting new element to the conference this year: the AUSTRIAN WORLD SUMMIT Solutions Expo. Numerous exhibition stands from companies, NGOs, start-ups and organizations will present a variety of innovative environmental solutions on the ground floor of the Hofburg. The AUSTRIAN WORLD SUMMIT Solutions Expo is open to all visitors free of charge and invites them to actively participate in the movement for a sustainable future. It provides a platform to explore and promote practical approaches and tools for a healthy environment. The aim is to inspire a broad audience for climate protection and to show what is already possible.

High-profile guest list from various fields

In addition to host Arnold Schwarzenegger, Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen will once again be the patron of the conference in 2024. The Austrian politicians, Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer, Federal Minister Leonore Gewessler, Federal Minister Magnus Brunner and Vienna City Councillor Jürgen Czernohorszky are expected to attend. The conference’s Leading Partners, Klemens Hallmann from Hallmann Holding and Jan Jenisch from Holcim, will also be there to represent the business community. Visitors can also look forward to meeting personalities such as Andy Schleck, winner of the 2010 Tour de France, and Nigerian businesswoman and entrepreneur Omoyemi Akerele. To kick off the afternoon program, the band ‘The BossHoss’ will set the stage for  the numerous climate action heroes and success stories from around the world.

From Financing to Culture: Strategies for Effective Climate Protection

In terms of content, a panel on green investments will focus on overcoming financial obstacles to climate protection measures. It will also discuss how companies, politicians, cities and the arts and culture sector can contribute to climate protection and which instruments need to be improved. The afternoon will once again be dedicated to inspiring stories and innovative personalities. This is where climate protection becomes concrete and tangible.

Monika Langthaler, Director of the AWS and the Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative, emphasizes: “I am convinced that we are the first generation that can manage to live sustainably and at the same time have a high quality of life. In order to achieve this goal as quickly as possible, it is crucial to motivate as many people as possible to join us on this journey,” says Langthaler. The Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative has been working towards this goal for eight years now by presenting successful projects, measures and inspiring personalities both at the AUSTRIAN WORLD SUMMIT and this year at the Expo.
