Vienna is once again an international hub for environmental and climate protection, innovation, and sustainable solutions

Around 1,500 participants from all over the world are following Arnold Schwarzenegger’s invitation – including leading decision-makers, experts, climate heroes, emergency responders, and many others. They are gathering today at 9:30 AM in the Hofburg Vienna to jointly work on solutions for a climate-friendly future. Among them are 150 media representatives from across the globe, reporting live from the summit.

With around 40 high-profile speakers from politics, business, and civil society, the summit offers a unique platform for diverse perspectives and constructive discussions on climate and environmental protection. Notable guests include Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker, Environment Minister Norbert Totschnig, and EU Climate Commissioner Wopke Hoekstra.

Monika Langthaler, Director of the Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative and organizer of the event, emphasizes:
“With the AUSTRIAN WORLD SUMMIT, our goal again this year is to bring different perspectives and approaches to the table. Because there is no single solution in the fight for a healthy planet. What matters is that we all pursue the same goal and take action together: moving away from fossil fuels and toward a clean and livable future.”

A special focus of this year’s summit is on emergency responders, who work on the front lines in tackling the consequences of the climate crisis. These professionals enjoy particularly high levels of public trust. On stage, Viennese fire officer Viktoria Zechmeister and firefighter captain Dom Bei from Santa Monica (California) will share their experiences. Both were on duty during last year’s extreme weather events (wildfires in LA, floods in Austria).

Youth engagement is also a key priority: around 500 students from all over Austria will participate in the conference, offering powerful input and engaging in discussions with international guests about future opportunities, solutions, and challenges.

One of the summit’s musical highlights will be the world live premiere of the new song “I’ll be Back” by The BossHoss, together with Arnold Schwarzenegger – sending a strong message in support of climate and environmental action.

A special campaign in collaboration with Wiener Linien is also drawing attention across the whole city today. In addition to the message “Öffis nützen – Klima schützen” displayed on all digital boards at stations, a personal announcement by Chief Mobility Officer Arnold Schwarzenegger will be played from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM in all stations and vehicles, thanking all public transport users in Vienna for their commitment to climate and environmental protection.

In addition to the many exciting panels, the summit once again features an Expo for all guests, where numerous companies and organizations will present their sustainable technologies and groundbreaking solutions for climate and environmental protection.
