Global campaign relaunches with prominent support; Alaba and Arnautović among key voices
Vienna/Los Angeles, April 22, 2026
Former governor, world bodybuilding champion, Hollywood star, and climate activist Arnold Schwarzenegger is once again relying on muscle power for climate and environmental protection: with the global participatory campaign “Pump for the Planet,” Schwarzenegger is calling on people of all ages this Earth Day to take action together and send a strong signal for a clean and healthy future.
The campaign will run over the coming weeks until the Austrian World Summit 2026, which this year celebrates its 10th anniversary on June 16 at the Vienna Hofburg. Once again, the initiative enjoys strong support from well-known personalities and delivers a clear message: climate and environmental protection require united power—and everyone can easily take part.
In a video message, Schwarzenegger says:
“There’s nothing better than having a good pump. But let’s not just pump up the muscles and the body. Let’s pump up the environment, lets up the planet. That’s going to reduce the pollution. When we act together, we can truly make a difference. So let’s get to work!”
Monika Langthaler, Director of the Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative, adds:
“With ‘Pump for the Planet,’ we show that climate action is not abstract—it starts in everyday life. Every conscious decision—whether in movement, consumption, or mobility—is a contribution to a healthier environment. This connection between personal strength and shared responsibility is what makes the campaign so powerful.”
Alaba and Arnautović also call for participation
Across social media, numerous public figures are already demonstrating how physical activity, health, and simple habit changes can go hand in hand with environmental and climate protection: commuting by bike or public transport, collecting waste together, or switching to reusable water bottles are just a few examples. Using the hashtag #PumpForThePlanet and through the channels of the Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative, they are sending visible signals against pollution and in favor of preserving our natural foundations of life.
This year, particularly strong support also comes from the Austrian national football team. Team captain David Alaba and record player Marko Arnautović are joining Schwarzenegger’s call. Returning supporters from previous years include stars such as Giovanni Zarrella and The BossHoss, actresses Valerie Huber and Barbara Meier, as well as Hans Sigl, Ralf Möller, and Elisabeth Görgl. Exemplary initiatives and companies will also be highlighted again this year.
Joining is simple—and effective
The campaign once again features several themed weeks with different focal points. Anyone looking for a “training plan” for their environmental workout can find a clear overview on the website of the Schwarzenegger Climate Initiative.
Schwarzenegger invites participants to create their own workout photos and videos and share them on Instagram using the hashtag #PumpForThePlanet. The most creative contributions will be regularly recognized and featured on the initiative’s channels.
Join now—let’s pump together for our planet!
