The Story

ZELENA SONCHEVA (ZS) is a people-for-people action, addressing all layers of society, from all age and cultural backgrounds to unite behind a single goal: create a future worth living in our country for us and generations to come. ZS includes two parts: GENERALKA WEEKEND – volunteer based, national wide waste cleaning action in May and – SONCHEVA GORA – a tree plantation action in November, in which for each 10kg of collected waste 1 tree is planted. ZS will be organised for 10 years with the goal to clean our country and to plant 1 million trees. Until 2025 we have planted more than 165.000 trees and collected 1.3 million kg of waste with more than 100.000 volunteers.

Success Factor | Hero Moment

On each 2nd weekend in May, Man and Mountain and their partners organise a national wide waste cleaning action including all layers of society. More than 100.000 volunteers collected more than 1.3 million kg of waste since 2021. Our goal is to clean Macedonia until 2031 (the 40th birthday of modern Macedonia).
