Flex.Home Energy
Supplier-controlled energy storage – for every household
Project Dates
Start: 2019
The Story
FlexHome.Energy is rethinking the role of electricity storage in the energy transition. The focus is on decentralised, affordable and grid-friendly solutions that work with existing utility systems.
The idea is simple: Households get compact plug-and-play battery units installed behind the meter. These batteries connect to a smart cloud platform, so utilities can control when they charge. They store energy when it is cheap and release it when demand is high. The founder has worked with solar and wind energy for many years. They have seen how often green electricity goes to waste,
simply because it is produced at the wrong time. The wind does not always blow when it isneeded and the sun shines brightest when many people are not home. FlexHome is building a power grid based on solidarity, where everyone can take part in the energy transition, not just those who can afford solar panels on their roof. Whether it is a house or an apartment block, the system works for everyone. The energy supplier remains the main contact for their customers, while FlexHome handles the technology, data and support in the background. The storage units are standardised, mobile and quick to install, no construction work needed. This creates a digital swarm of decentralised batteries. It helps utilities ease pressure on the grid, reduce costs and offer flexible and fair tariffs. And most importantly, it brings real energy flexibility to places where it has been missing.
Success Factor | Hero Moment
FlexHome.Energy was founded on the belief that the energy transition should work for everyone, not just for those who can afford private systems.
As the founder’s grandmother once put it: “That’s unfair.” Her words captured what many feel but rarely say out loud. Our hero mission is to make energy flexibility accessible to all, so the transition becomes a shared opportunity, not a privilege.
