
Viktoria Zechmeister

Vienna Fire Department
Viktoria Zechmeister is a professional career firefighter and has worked with the Vienna Fire Department since 2004.
She is an incident commander Type 3 (provincial-level) operations officer and fills in as acting director. In the Vienna Fire Department´s administrative structure, she is the division chief responsible for buildings and construction. She studied industrial electronics at the University of Applied Sciences Technikum Wien in Vienna.
Viktoria works in 24-hour-long shifts and in the event of disasters, she is responsible for coordinating the resources of the Fire Service of Vienna. As part of a disaster relief agreement, she spent a week in Slovenia during a catastrophic ice storm in February 2014 which caused the entire energy supply to fail in an area for around 90,000 inhabitants.
She is also tasked with adapting fire department buildings to meet climate friendly standards to help achieve Vienna’s climate targets by 2040. She is the Austrian Representative in the Commission „Women in Fire & Rescue“ of the International Association of Fire and Rescue Services (CTIF).
In her leisure time, Viktoria is a member of a volunteer fire service in Vienna and has been volunteering with them since 2000. While stationed at this fire station, she was involved in numerous fire service operations triggered by floods, storms
and tinder dry landscape.
