Founder EcoSmartClub &
Eco Champion SOS-Kinderdörfer weltweit
Hannah Omokhaye is from Nigeria, and she has created the EcoSmart Club project. Growing up in Odo-Ona community, Hannah experienced the impact of environmental problems from air pollution to flooding. In 2010, her family survived a flood incident caused by clogged gutters and excessive rainfall, which swept away their belongings. After returning from her National Youth Service, she returned home to a community „that was even dirtier than when I left“ (Hannah). She then organised the first community-led clean up which brought together 100 community members to clean up local landfills.
Hannah aims to increase climate awareness, green skills, and career opportunities for 10,000 young Nigerians by the end of next year. Hannah‘s ultimate goal is to support other young people in discovering their abilities and equipping them to contribute to reducing the impacts of climate change. She believes everyone, including herself, has a role to play in building a sustainable future where humanity and nature coexist and thrive.
